The Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholars are a group of students with varied backgrounds, interests, and career paths. But, one thing unites them all – their drive and passion to excel. Q. What is your favorite Bauer course?

MIS 3370 (JAVA), because I learned a new computer language.

Q. When you're not in class, what do you do to stay involved on campus?

Organizations and building my connections. I try to meet new people and talk to them about their challenges and successes. These conversations usually inspire and motivate me for the future.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

I have been able to meet a lot of people. I have been able to learn about different opportunities and what it takes to be successful. It has helped me to move a step closer to my short term goals and has inspired and motivated me.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Obtain a full-time job in a company with information systems. My long-term goal is to give back Bauer everything it has done for me to be successful.

Q. When you're not in class, what do you do to stay involved on campus?

Bauer Organizations such as Accounting Society and also I try to go to the accounting tutoring lab every now and then if I have any questions regarding the homework and also make corrections with people who have the same major as me.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

It is really helping me with my college expenses and also it is providing us with two more advisors we can go to if we have anything to discuss regarding our careers or classes. After getting this scholarship now I feel like I have more time to spend focusing on my education solely rather than having to worry about monetary problems which is indeed a blessing. Now I feel more valued.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Initially start with public accounting firms and then eventually move to corporate accounting. But I have yet to decide which industry I would want to move into and I am currently working on that.

I hope to still be a part of the Bauer community. I would like to find a way to help students follow their dreams. The programs at Bauer helped me feel like a part of the Bauer family and I want to share that feeling with others.

It has given me the opportunity to share my appreciation for the Bauer College with my fellow classmates. I’m constantly reminding them about all the programs Bauer offers as well as the financial aid the college provides to assist us in becoming well rounded individuals.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

I plan to commission the U.S. Army as a 2nd lieutenant.

Joining organizations. My first year at Bauer I joined AMA which helped me network and grow as a professional. This semester, I have joined BWS and I am looking forward to the many opportunities it will bring.

It has allowed me to stay on track with my courses and attend college with financial stability.

Work in the Human Resources field with a company that allows room for individual growth and achievements.

Q. What is your favorite Bauer course?

Intermediate I with Professor Kilic. It’s an accounting course right after Frameworks. I love the way Kilic teaches the subject because he simplifies it to where you can understand accounting and enjoy working out the problems.

Q. When you're not in class, what do you do to stay involved on campus?

The Accounting Society. I’m currently the VP of AS and have been with them for 4 semesters now. I highly recommend joining an organization because you not only get to network with professionals but you get to meet other students who are on the same page as you. It’s also a great opportunity to make lifelong friends.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

I’ve gotten to meet other students of Bauer and hear about their life stories. Sarayu and Frank has also been a great help in providing resources and opportunities for us to use. It’s also great to meet with alumni and receive advice and guidance from them.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Have gotten an internship or full time job at a middle-market CPA firm. I plan to work in public accounting for 3-5 years and then move on to industry such as healthcare or energy.

MISSO, attending athletic events and hanging out with friends on campus.

It's an honor to even be considered for the scholarship. The idea that someone saw I was a candidate pushes me to excel in class and anything I do throughout the day.

Work as much as I can, save money, and give back to campus.

Q. When you're not in class, what do you do to stay involved on campus?

I am the President of the American Marketing Association, a Bauer senator and serve on the board as secretary and VC of marketing of the Energy Coalition.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

It gives me an opportunity to lead by example. The topic itself is such an inspiring story because the funds came directly from Ted Bauer, which motivates me to become a better person and give back to the community in various ways. Additionally, it gives me more to talk about when it comes to recruiting high-schoolers.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Open a business where I can make enough capital to franchise my idea and become a philanthropist.

Management Information Systems courses were my favorite because it help me get out of my comfort zone and I learned a lot coming in that I didn’t know.

Doing extra-curricular activities such as volunteering, serving my community, and getting involved in student organizations.

It motivates me to not slack off and be proud of a college that supports me by acknowledging my achievements.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Become an IT consultant for a private or large company, travel the world and be a resource for UH undergraduates as an alumni.

Q. When you're not in class, what do you do to stay involved on campus?

Cub Camp. It’s the second year the program has been on campus and it’s an extended orientation where incoming freshman can go to learn the traditions of UH, make friends and feel at home here at UH before they even take their first class.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

I hope to really make a difference in the world someday either through conservation or humanity efforts, so when that happens I would like for people to go back through my life and know where that change was made. And for me the change was made when I receive the scholarship because it made me realize anything was possible and that nothing should hold me back from pursuing my dreams!

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Go to law school and get my law degree and go on to practice family, international or white color law.

ENTR 3310 intro to entrepreneurship with Ken Jones. This is my favorite course because4 Ken teaches with stories from his personal experience in all aspects of building a business. I especially enjoyed the financial side of it.

Hispanic Business Student Association and Investment Banking Scholar’s Club.

It has provided me with many resources to succeed academically and professionally. It allows me to see all of the things that makes Bauer awesome.

Work in investment banking or go to law school to practice transactional law.

Professor Atwater MANA 346 Leadership Development class helped me tremendously, with supervision skills.

Q. When you're not in class, what do you do to stay involved on campus?

Study groups! With my busy lifestyle, working as a supervisor, single mother of 4, I stay very busy. However, I join online study groups often to support my peers.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

UH Bauer has played a huge part with helping me shape my future. My professional development, and being a role model for my children.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Become my own boss! I would love to begin a business or become involved with a business associated with economic conservation.

ACCT 3366 – Frameworks with Dr. Harris because I learned all there is to know about financial statements (balance sheet income statement, cash flow statement) that has helped me understand what I have done at work when using QuickBooks.

Hispanic Business Student Association. I am a membership committee member.

This scholarship not only has helped me fund my education but I have also gained new friendships with the other recipients.

Financial Accounting with professor Parthasarathy 2331 because it was my first time taking an accounting course. By taking this class, I k new that I wanted to major in accounting.

Q. When you're not in class, what do you do to stay involved on campus?

The National Association of Black Accountants. I am currently the corresponding secretary for or chapter. I also am a resident advisor in our freshman residence hall.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

Without this opportunity I would have had to take out additional loans to complete this year of college.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Launch my career with one of the big four accounting firms. I would also like to start my own accounting firm in the future.

Q. When you're not in class, what do you do to stay involved on campus?

Beta Alpha Psi as the community service officer. I enjoy meeting others through our different events. Giving back to BAP after first becoming a member to officer has been a rewarding experience, and something I would be happy to do over again.

I’m grateful to be a recipient of such a great scholarship, and let my parents know that attending university is a possible dream for our family.

Go on to full time position in an accounting firm after graduating with my master’s, and have a successful career in the tax service line.

MARK 3337 (Professional Selling) – This course has really helped me learn more about how to prepare myself for the business world. I’ve learned a lot of soft skills and how to brand myself. Frameworks – Professor Harris was a great professor! This class really help set the foundation for my accounting knowledge. I learned how to effectively study after this class.

Q. When you're not in class, what do you do to stay involved on campus?

The Accounting Society. I was in officer for AS in Fall 2015 and have met great friends here.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

It has truly help open doors for me. I’ve managed to be able to meet great people and professionals at Bauer who truly care and try to help us fulfil our goals.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Start my career in the oil and gas industry. I hope to also obtain a Master’s Degree in either Finance or Accounting.

It helps me reduce my financial burden. It allows me to work less and focus more on school. More importantly, it helps me get closer to achieving my bachelor.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

Get a job offer from one of my favorite firms which are EY, BDO, Briggs and Veselka, Weistein Spira or Anderson Tax. Also I hope to pass my CPA exam.

I stay involved on campus with: attending more school pride events. This includes sporting events and volunteer opportunities in MVP. I've also joined Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.

Q. I'm proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar because:

It shows that my work and tireless effort has not gone unnoticed. It means people believe that I'm "bold and far from ordinary." I have taken great pride in this award and title.

Q. After I graduate, I hope to:

Land a job serving families’ financial needs aspect especially military families at First Command Financial Services. In the long run, I hope to create a scholarship fund aiming to help older folks pursue their education.

I stay involved on campus with The Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship, Wolffest, Hispanic Business Student Association, and study abroad student exchange programs.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

Through this amazing scholarship, I have made possible unimaginable dreams that include an exchange student trip to Japan, being CEO of my own Wolffest team, and meeting Warren Buffett.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

I hope to join Teach For America and teach under-privileged students.

Continue to grad school, and work towards my CPA. After obtaining my CPA, I hope to get a full-time job at a CPA firm.

Financial Association, going to their professional and social events. Delta Zeta volunteering for Frontier Fiesta, philanthropy events and raising money for hearing and speech.

This scholarship has provided an opportunity for myself and other future business leaders to turn attention away from the financial burden of college to focus on learning so that we can somehow make a difference later on.

Find a secure job that I love to do and stay involve with Bauer so that I can help other students.

When I’m not in class, I stay involved on campus with visiting the library and focusing on finishing this last semester strong.

Q. Why are you proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?

I’m proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar because Dean Kelley & Sarayu make the whole program enjoyable and friendly. They are there whenever you need a hand or advice. Also, it gives me the opportunity to meet other students who are in similar situations as me. This program has given me the strength to stay focused, get a full-time job after graduation and finish college debt free.

Q. What are your plans for after graduation?

After I graduate, I will be working for CenterPoint Energy and going to grad school after a few years of work experience. I plan to become a CPA and maybe purse a teaching degree later in the future. I want to be able to give back to my community, especially to the people who helped me throughout my college years.

This quote speaks to me because I don't want to be compared to other people. There are some moments of my life my self-esteem and confidence got to a point where I just shunned myself from the world. That's why whenever I start thinking about it, I like to look back at this quote to remind myself I don't have to try to be somebody else. Rather, be who you want to be in the future and love yourself.

I am the founder and president of Alpha Nu Honor Society. I am responsible for landing corporate sponsors as well as develop my leaders. I am also the Director of Pearson Student Leadership Initiative. The purpose of this leadership program is to inspire students to make a difference on their campus.

Being a recipient of this scholarship is an incredible honor and blessing. Receiving this award validates all the hard work I put into financing my education.

I would like to study Korean and teach English in South Korea on the Fulbright Scholarship. Afterwards, I would like to gain some work experience at a marketing and advertising firm before going back to graduate school. Eventually I want to run my own international corporation.

This scholarship has helped me achieve a great deal at the University Of Houston Bauer College Of Business. With extra time I am able to commit more of my time and energy into academics as well as student activities the Bauer Business School has to offer.
